“Soap is a yardstick of civilization”.. I’ve been watching a movie called “Fight Club” and literally got stuck with this phrase said by the actor Tyler Durden. This particular quote literally hooked me up with it which states how soap was the yardstick of civilization (why it hooked I’ll explain later, Deal !) The actor wanted to say that soap is a way to measure the level of civilization. What I can interpret is the quality of soap (which is metaphorical to the hygiene and cleanliness level) judges how far has civilization progressed. This clearly means that those who bathe regularly with soap want to be a part of the growth of civilization, and want to fit in by keeping themselves clean, whereas filthy and dirty people are not accepted very well by society, like homeless folks. So basically step one of civilization is to be freaking clean.
And this makes complete sense to me because I am a very finicky person when it comes to hygiene and skin care.
